Everybody wants to make Ghostbusters 3, Ernie Hudson says

So BigShinyRobot.com (got to love that name) has talked to Ernie Hudson about many things, not least Ghostbusters 3. It seems everyone wants to get it made, but they just can’t agree on how. Here are some of the things Ernie said:

“Over the past year or so I’ve talked to the main players. I’ve talked to Sigourney Weaver. I’ve talked to Bill, Danny, Harold and Ivan Reitman. Everybody is like, “Yah, we want to do [Ghostbusters 3], but…” And that’s the “but”. Getting everyone to agree with what needs to be done. I think Bill especially wants to make it something exceptional. What that means to him may be different to what it means to Ivan Reitman or Danny Aykroyd. I know everybody wants to do it. But getting them to agree on a script [is the key]. For me, I think if we just get a script together, so much of it happened on the moment of the set that it’ll be fine. But that’s just my opinion. I’m the last guy *chuckles* that has any input. But I’d love to see it happen.”

So would we. But not all of this is up to the cast, of course. Sony also want to have their say:

“[...] when you get the studios involved… In the first one we were kind of left alone. And that’s why I think it came through so strong. We were making this movie, and it was our movie. And I think even with the second one you started to get a lot of people wanting certain things. Wanted to make certain things happen as opposed to really making a movie. So I would imagine this is going to be even worse. But we’ll see. I’d love to see it happen, but like I said I don’t have any input into it.”

So there you have it. It sounds as if everyone wants Ghostbusters 3 to get made, they just can’t agree on how.

Is that good news? Projects have been torpedoed for good by smaller problems than that. And Bill Murray is of course right in wanting to make it exceptional, but what that means to him is anyone’s guess. His 2004 movie The Life Aquatic was indeed exceptional, but possibly not in the good way. Lots of people want to have their say in this, it seems.

We’ll choose to consider this good news. At least no one is definitely opposed to making Ghostbusters 3.

Bill Murray probably doing Ghostbusters 3 after all

Published by admin under Bill Murray

So a few news outlets have spoken to Bill Murray, and he seems to be warming to the thought of being a part of Ghostbusters 3 after all.

To Nymag.com he said: “[...] I may do [Ghostbusters 3] just to keep people from talking about it, because it’s driving me nuts. It’s like a did-you-sleep-with–Marilyn Monroe kind of thing. You’re like, huh? What? Someone starts a story that we’re making a movie and it has this amazing life. I don’t know why. I guess people really wanna see it or it’s just the only newsworthy thing in my Internet file or something.”

And to USA Today, Murray stated: “”And [Ghostbusters] is still one of the biggest movies of all time. And ever since that story broke, everywhere I go people are like, “So are you gonna make [Ghostbusters 3]?” I was down in Austin at South by Southwest, and you go at it hard down there—fun but, man, you need to sleep for days afterwards. Anyhow, I got into it one night with a bunch of younger people who were like, Oh, I love Peter Venkman! I grew up with Peter Venkman! We got to talking, and the more we talked about it, the more I thought, Oh Christ, I should just do this thing.”

This sounds promising to us, but we’re not so naïve that we think Murray’s off-the-cuff statements settle anything. This is not the last we’ll hear of Bill Murray being difficult to get into his ghostbuster suit.

But for now we’ll remain optimists and hope that Ghostbusters 3 will be released in 2012.

Is Bill Murray trying to sink Ghostbusters 3?

Published by admin under Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Villain

It seems the making of Ghostbusters 3 has an enemy in one of the principal actors. According to website Bloody Disgusting (www.bloody-disgusting.com), National Enquirer columnist Mike Walker said the following on the Howard Stern show:

“Dan Aykroyd called ol’ pal and Ghostbusters co-star Bill Murry and snarled ’stop acting like a jerk’, Murray, despite agreeing to doing the film, has suddenly turned so cranky and mean [that] he refuses to answer phone calls.”

Furthermore: “Producers gave Bill script approval needed for his cooperation, but that cant even seem to get him on the phone to talk about the script. He’s even told ‘em that his character needs to be killed off in the opening minutes of the film.”

Well, we knew that last part about the killing off. But Aykroyd being unable to reach Murray is news. It sounds like Murray would really prefer to not be a part of Ghostbusters 3. But it won’t happen without him, so this is a big deal.

Seems like the movie is haunted by problems. A 2011 release is starting to look unlikely.
